Are you full of worry or fear? Or are you already happy? Are you striving towards new goals, but losing life balance in the pursuit of those goals?
Are there many things you want in life still? Dreams to follow ... but afraid of your own limitations?
What if you actually had everything you dreamed of achieving right now? What would your life be like? You would be happy right??
But think about it - can you imagine if you actually did have everything now?
What would there be left for us to strive towards. To dream about ....
Today, I want to give you a little 'Stop and Smell The Roses Moment' - a short poem about 'Gratitude' and 'Being Thankful' for our Limitations and the dreams we have yet to achieve ..... :-)
BE THANKFUL
Unknown Author
"Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire. If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don’t know something, for it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times. During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations, because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge, because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you’re tired and weary, because it means you’ve made a difference.
It’s easy to be thankful for the good things. But a life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also thankful for the setbacks.
Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles, and they can become your
blessings."
A New Way of Looking at the 'SeaWeed' of Life
It is so easy to focus on the negatives and fears in life. But viewing them in this 'new', more positive light makes sense.
We need purpose in life. We need challenges to be motivated.
Being Thankful for what we do have, no matter how small or large, including our fears and limitations, can help us during difficult times. Much of our 'life-situations' are influenced by our thought processes - and how we view the world. Why not be grateful for everything (as long as it doesn't kill us or hurt others of course).
We all worry, we fear, we wonder about the 'what-if's' in life. Uncertainty and change draw us from our 'comfort zones' and we forget to live in the 'now'. To enjoy the process of 'living'. Remember that life is a journey. It is the process that matters, and not always the 'end result'.
Many of us tend to 'wait' for a better future. A time when we can feel at peace and find happiness. Will this blessing ever come? Yes, although it may be difficult to find at times. It may not happen overnight. We might 'find it', then 'lose it'.
But we also need to know that we don't have to wait for this time. This time can be NOW, even during the setbacks in our lives.
We were born perfect and pure. We have just become tainted through life experiences. This is what I like to call 'sea-weed'!
The 'sea-weed' that we collect over time influences our experiences. Let's try to make more of an effort in being thankful for what we do have, our 'seaweed'. Yes, even being thankful for our fears, limitations and worries - because of the opportunities they bring to us!
Of course there will be goals to be achieved, successes to strive for and enjoy. There will be up times, and down times. Life is full of mountains and valleys
What are your thoughts on this?
What would you think if you had everything you wanted in life right now? Would you 'stagnate', or would you simply find more and different goals to strive for?
Would you be happy??
What is your 'sea-weed' in life?
Are you Grateful?
For Life?
Remember, Life is short and precious.
Always Be Kind With Yourself
We need to be our own best friends, because we are the people we spend the most time with! :-)
Warm Regards
Meg

Thank you for this post, Megan. I'm always focusing on gratitude, but I know I'm not always thankful for my obstacles and hardships. I will change my perspective.
Thanks for your comment and stopping by Mary :) This was an interesting change in perspective for me too, and is not often easy to achieve when in the midst of challenges (especially if that challenge is ongoing, and one can't seen to find that positive light!). Many of us are so lucky and well off relative to others, but everything is relative too - and what may be a challenge for one person, may be nothing to another. It does seem strange to be grateful for our hardships, but it does make sense too - just to be grateful to be alive sometimes.
If you return, I would love to hear if you managed to change this perspective and how it may have impacted on you in your life :)
